Saturday morning..prepping the car to lower the body on the chassis

We all came in on Saturday to prep the body and chassis and to place the body on the frame. In the morning I took some more shots of markings and some bolts and nuts.  I just included a few here.

We saw this white marking on the rear brake spindle on a number of original Z06 cars in Tony's database of photos.

Grade 8 TR (Towne Robinson Fastener) on the lower control arm.

Andrew and Dan prepping to install the windshield and mouldings.

Windshield stainless clips installed.

Original lock nuts.

Cad plated motor mounts.  Note that the exhaust manifold nuts in this photo are temporary, we put the correct ones on just before starting the motor.

These cad castle nuts are original and are smaller than the typical castle nuts.

Yellow markings on the tie rod ends.  Note the hump in the tie rod, this is original 1963.

RBW chassis bolt for the steering box.

Correct, original hose clamp for the fuel line.

Original tensioner

These are the original indented hex RBW bolts on the brake backing plates.

Dan in the background looking at the stainless, Andrew doing final prep for the windshield and me taking photos...

Getting ready to put in the windshield.

Andrew pulling the pull string to install the windshield.

And it's in...a few last pushes to ensure it's seated properly.

Bolting on the original 1963 wheels and tires.

I started to complete the frame markings - this is the part number stencil.  Note the "2-P" is correct for this VIN as this indicated a 2nd revision.

Writing on the shim count...I wrote these from an upside down position as that's how they were originally written on the frame.

Great example of repo bolts vs. original.  The AP 5 grade bolt is installed on the intake manifold. You can see the AP, vs the repo bolts is not well defined.  The middle AP bolt has the grade stamps in the wrong location.  The left most AP bolt is much more well defined than the original.

Same photo with me...

Original, correctly dated horns.

Engine markings.  RF on the left head stands for Fuel Injection, the 6 on the right head is the job number of this car.

The job number written on the head on the front of the motor.

Last frame marking is the date on the frame which is the working day prior to the production of the car.  We used June 20, 1963.
